We are so saddened to announce the passing of our son, Zachary (Zach) Allen Baker passed away on April 6th, 2022.
Our community has lost an incredible friend and dedicated drug policy advocate.
Born on June 28th, 1985,
He is survived by his mother; Karen Lynn Baker, his father; Michael Allen Baker, his older brother; Joseph Michael Baker, and his younger sister; Stephanie Lynn Baker. His grandparents; Leroy Allen and Patricia Alene Baker and his nieces; Lyra Belle and Lux Adrienne Baker. He is preceded in death by his grand parents Richard Jensen and Betty Katherine Davis.
Zach was selfless and dedicated his life to helping to save the lives of others. As a member of the SSDP (Students for Sensible Drug Policy), DPP and founder of the Harm Reduction Project (HRP). Zach was fundamental in getting legislation passed (Utah HB 11 – Utah 911 Good Samaritan and Utah HB 119 – Utah Naloxone) that continues to save countless lives of Utahns battling with addiction.
Thanks to Zach’s tireless efforts, Utahns can now seek emergency medical services for someone who overdosed without fear or prosecution and Naloxone is now available to third parties without a prescription.
A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held on Wednesday evening at 6pm (April 13th, 2022) at The View Event Venue at 11649 South 4000 West, Suite 310, South Jordan, Utah 84009.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to help cover the family’s funeral expenses at the Go-fund-me Zachary Baker Memorial Fund.
A contribution will also be made to the Harm Reduction Project.
