RaNae J. Walker, age 74, passed away on August 27, 2023, in Midvale, UT. She was born on February 9, 1949 in Delta, Ut. She had 8 brothers and sisters and was especially close with her sisters LaNette, Martha and Mary.
RaNae attended Kearns High School. After High School she met and married Bob Cowan and moved to Taylorsville, UT. While there they were members of the Taylorsville 9 th ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was during this time that a deep and lasting friendship with the Porters (Gary and Jolene) was formed. Their families spent two weeks every year camping at Christmas Meadows in the high Uintas. The memories of those trips are cherished by everyone who went, and the traditions have continued through three generations.
RaNae struggled with various health issues throughout her adult life. She had a stroke in 2002 which was the beginning of a slow decline in her health. The last few years of her life were spent in a skilled nursing facility and it was hard to watch her once sharp mind and body deteriorate. In the end it was a blessing that she was able to leave behind the body that had failed her.
We know that there was a joyful reunion between her and her family that preceded her, especially her beloved daughter Coby, who died of breast cancer 3 years ago.
RaNae is survived by Daughters: Jenny Marsh, Carrie (Aaron) Manges, Son: Andy (Merrilee) Cowan, Son-in-law: Dale VanWagoner. Granddaughters: Casey (Ricky) Wadman, Taylor (Travis) Finch, Haley Cowan, Presley Manges, Grandsons: Austin (Angie) Cowan, Dane (Hanna) Cowan, Hayden Marsh, Tyson Vanwagoner, Andrew Manges, Keegan Manges and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father Arthur Jackson, her mother Leora Jackson, her brother Glen Jackson, and her daughter Coby VanWagoner.
A funeral service will be held on September 5 at 11:30am, with a viewing from 10 to 11:30am, at 8137 South Echo View Drive, West Jordan, UT. She will be laid to rest at Redwood Memorial Estates in West Jordan, UT.
