Pamela McAffee Mitton

Pamela McAffee Mitton, 65, of Salt Lake City, passed away peacefully on June 23rd, 2022, surrounded by many of her friends and family.

Pamela was born on February 8th, 1957 to Brent and Jeanette in West Palm Beach, FL and immediately brought joy into the world. She was the second child, a sister to Kevin.  Her father passed away in a diving accident when she was just a baby. Pamela’s mother relocated her small family to Hyde Park, Utah. Soon after, Pamela’s immediate family expanded when her mother married Doral Perkes. He brought along three new siblings for Pam; Peggy, Eva, and Kevin Ray.  Together, Doral and Jeanette gifted the family with even more love when her brothers David and Brett were born.

Pamela lived her growing up years to the fullest in Hyde Park where she developed and grew lifelong friendships. She and her best friend Tammy created memories that they would find joy in reminiscing about for the rest of her life.  A particularly fond memory included Pamela and Tammy driving back to Logan from Salt Lake in an orange VW bug. The accelerator had gone out and with no mechanics around to make the repair, Pamela and Tammy made the return trip with Pamela on the floor of the bug holding the accelerator cable with a pair of pliers while Tammy navigated and instructed Pam when to ease up on the gas.

Pamela’s greatest joy and pride came to her in the form of her eight children. She was a fiercely dedicated mother and, largely on her own, raised each of them to accomplish great things. Family came first to Pamela, a value that she instilled in all those around her.

Pamela wanted to be close to her children every day and found that having an in-home daycare was the perfect fit. She lovingly assisted in raising up many children over 30 years as a Childcare Provider. She was incredibly empathic to any mother in need of childcare and would often start her days early and finish in the late evening.

Pamela loved her Savior and was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In any calling she was given, she was faithful and dutiful in its completion. For many years, she served as the Relief Society homemaking leader. Through this calling she loved sharing her skills for crafting and creating while building lasting friendships. Even when her body left her with limited physical capacity, she still wanted to be of service. Her most recent calling was the Relief Society birthday specialist. She spent hours handcrafting lovely birthday cards (which always included something that could be used outside of the card) for every woman in her ward.

Pamela was predeceased by her mother - Jeanette, her father - Brent, her husband – David Baker, her brother - Kevin Ray, her youngest child – Michael and her born sleeping grandson – Blaze.

Pamela is survived by her father-Doral, five of her siblings (mentioned above), her three sons - Daniel, Brian, Bradley; her four daughters – Michele, Jessica (Craig), Heather, Hillary; her twelve grandchildren – Abigail, Gabriela, Samantha, Jada, Reese, Mikah, Lily, London, Malaki, Bella, Lavender, and Maple.

She would have loved it if you could bring something from your garden rather than cut floral arrangements. She always prepared her potted flowers by Mother’s Day to care for and enjoy through the summer.
