N. Keith Carroll, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Keith was born in Salt Lake City on August 5, 1926, to Mayo L. and Thelma Smith Carroll. He is survived by his wife Marion Elizabeth Angerbauer and their four children David (Barbara) Carroll, Annette (David) McPhie, Steven (Christi) Carroll, Richard (Shirlee) Carroll, 16 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 3 grandchildren.
He married Marion Angerbauer on June 26, 1950, in the Salt Lake Temple. He graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in accounting. He worked for the Church for many years in the Presiding Bishopric’s Office and the Purchasing Department. Later, Keith was instrumental in founding Deseret First Credit Union, serving as President and CEO.
A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all of his life, he was a missionary in the Northern States from 1946-1948. Keith served as a member of the Stake High Council and as Bishop of the Canyon Rim 2nd Ward. He was actively involved with the Scouting program. Together, Keith and Marion served as missionaries at the Polynesian Cultural Center and as ordinance workers in the Salt Lake Temple. For nine years, they were hosts at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.
During World War II, he enlisted in the Air Force, later transferring to the Army Reserve, where he served for twelve years, retiring as a Captain.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021, at the Canyon Rim Stake Center located at 3051 S. 2900 East at 11:00am. A viewing will be held for family and friends at 10:00am. Please wear masks. Interment Holladay Cemetery.
