Maria Boulard

Maria Boulard was an amazing woman. She was born July 26, 1946 and passed away December 14th, 2016. She leaves behind her son Juan C. Deliote, Jr. and Libby Karen Deliote. Maria was born in Tarariras, Uruguay. Her parents were the late Juan Pedro Boulard and Irma Ester Boulard. She had a sister, Sonia Margot Alvez, who lives in Long Island, NY with her family. Maria went to catholic school in Uruguay where she learned Latin, Spanish, English, French and Italian. Maria studied a lot throughout her life. She double majored at the University in Montevideo, Uruguay of Law School and Psychology. She married Juan Carlos Deliote, Sr. in 1968 and soon moved to New York City, NY with a group of friends. Her parents, sister, her fiancé and other relatives also moved to New York shortly after. Maria gave birth to her daughter Libby in November of 1969 and she gave birth to her son Juan C. in September of 1979. Although she worked different jobs throughout her life, she was a homemaker for most of her years. Maria enjoyed life at home rearing her children. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and providing service. She had a passion for language and culture. She decided in the mid 1970’s to take her daughter Libby to Montevideo, Uruguay so that she could learn Spanish and learn the country’s culture. The experience lasted 5 years and then they returned to New York City with her daughter and her son. Within a few years she divorced her first husband and in the nineties she married her second husband Abraham Szochet. They later divorced in 2000. Maria moved to Utah to follow her daughter Libby and start a new life. She worked for about a year at ZCMI Department Store and at the end of the year she became ill with pneumonia and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Maria began treatment and worked with the guidance of her doctors on her road to recovery.  The congestive heart failure illness allowed her 16 years to live. She was able to see her son get married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple in 2011 and later on she became the proud grandma or “abu” to little Eva and little Kevin. She also was able to celebrate her daughter’s MBA graduation in 2015. Sadly, Maria’s health declined rapidly due to an acute pneumonia and congestive heart failure which combined, were the cause of her passing. We love her and miss her very much.

Funeral services will be held Saturday December 17 at 11 AM. Friends may call one hour prior to services.  The funeral will be held at the LDS 15 ward at 1457 West Atherton Dr. Taylorsville UT 84123. Interment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens 1075 E 4580 S, Millcreek, UT 84117.
