Our Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother Margaret Louise Doty passed away peacefully in her sleep with family surrounding her at 2:27 AM on January 16th, 2024, in Farmington Utah. Margaret was born on December 22nd, 1927 in Yates City, Illinois. In her early 20’s she met her forever best friend Joy Doty. Joy introduced Margaret to her brother, Marvin Junior Doty, in 1949, and soon she fell in love with her eternal soulmate. They were married March 21st, 1953, in St. Paul’s Church in Pekin Illinois, and later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on June 20th, 1956. Margaret and Marvin had 9 children, and together they raised them in Illinois with lots of love, camping, and gardening, especially tomatoes. Margaret spent many years dedicating hours of talent, along with her family to the City of Joseph Pageant in Nauvoo, and was included in the original soundtrack. When Marvin decided it was time to retire, they traded their home for a home on wheels in 1990. They traveled the country with their favorite spots to visit being the homes of their children and grandchildren. In 1994 they served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to North Carolina. Margaret’s hobbies brought not only personal joy to her family as well as those around her. In her later years, her handmade cards were cherished by everyone who received them. During her life she endured many trials which included 3 house fires. The last of which being Marvin’s beloved motorhome on the side of the highway in New Mexico, with Margaret barely making it out of the front seat in time. After the disappointing loss of their cherished motorhome, Margaret and Marvin resided in Hurricane Utah, until her sweetheart Marvin passed away in April 2002. Following his passing, she moved to Northern Utah to be with her family that resides there and she remained with them until her passing. One of her greatest joys in Margaret’s life was her children, grandchildren, and especially her great and even great great grandchildren. She will be forever missed by everyone who loves her.
