Lynn Boehme

July 2, 1943 — February 14, 2021

On Sunday, February 14, 2021, Lynn Ervin Boehme passed away at the age of 74. He was much beloved as a son, brother, husband, and father.

Lynn was born July 2, 1946 in Boise, Idaho. The second eldest of 7 children, Lynn was very admired by his older sister and younger siblings. Even from a young age he always worked hard to help his family, a work ethic he would carry on throughout his life. In 1970, he received a Bachelor of Science in History, and in 1978 received  a Masters Degree in Education, both from the University of Utah. He passed on his love of history and education to his two daughters, Lynnae and Barbara.

Before going to school, Lynn served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the Pacific Northwest Mission where he  met his future wife, Renee Lequeux, while serving in the Seattle area. The two continued writing when Lynn returned home from his mission, and soon Renee came down to Utah to join him. They were married and sealed to each other for eternity on June 20, 1969. Lynn also served in many church callings through the years, happy to serve even when he had to learn new things on the computer.

After finishing his schooling, Lynn would go on to work for the Granite School District. He taught at Granite High School for 13 years, did his internship at Eisenhower Junior High, then following his internship served as principal at Brockbank Junior High, Kennedy Junior High, and Evergreen Junior High. He then retired after 36 years of service. During his retirement, he did some tutoring, because of his dedication to educating.

Lynn was a dedicated sports fan. Even when not attending games in person, he would always loudly cheer on his favorite teams from the chair in front of his TV. He was a “Utah Man” through and through, especially fond of watching the University of Utah Utes Football team and had season tickets for 20+ years. Through snow, rain, blazing heat, hundreds of games he always cheered on his team even through the losses.

He also favored the Utah Jazz, and the Salt Lake Bees. Many games were attended as well, including going to at least one game when The Jazz took on The Bulls in the '97-'98 NBA Finals.

Outside of Utah’s teams, he also followed the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, and Colorado Rockies. Even when his preferred teams weren’t playing, he never wanted to miss any game and would often sit through many hours of college and pro games on Saturdays and Sundays When attending games in person, he liked to bring along one of his daughters; his oldest, Lynnae, shared the same love for football. One of the best games they attended was Utah vs Navy in the Poinsettia bowl where they met some really fantastic people and obviously enjoyed another Utes bowl win. He loved the trips to San Diego and said it was one of his favorite places outside of Utah.

Besides the love of sports,   enjoyed traveling with his family, listening to music, watching TV shows and movies, and working in the yard. Lynn enjoyed his oldies music, and a variety of TV shows and movies. When gardening, he was often accompanied by one of the family dogs; at different times they had Cassie, Sandy, Buffy, and Turtle. He was always happy for companionship in the yard, be it human or animal.

Lynn is preceded in death by his father Ervin, mother Barbara, brother Brian, sister LeeAnn, and other family members.  He is survived by his wife Renee, their daughters Lynnae and Barbara, his brother Fred, his sisters Laraine, Marlene, Carolee, and many nieces and nephews.
