Lisa Ann Moore Wood, our beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 9, 2025. She was born on October 20, 1960, to Leslie Hal Moore and Sharon Kay Moore in Ogden, Utah. She lived her early years in Sunset, Utah. Following her graduation from Clearfield High School in 1978, Lisa enlisted in the United States Navy, where she graduated from bootcamp in Orlando, Florida in March of 1979. Beginning her Naval Career as an Undesignated Seaman, she was stationed at the previously known Naval Air Station Moffet Field where she worked from 1979 to 1983 for Fleet Aviation Specialized Operation Training Group Pacific. She “struck” for her Navy Rate and attended AK “C” School in San Diego, CA qualifying as a Navy Aviation Storekeeper. From there on out, she was stationed in numerous locations on the west coast and Okinawa, Japan. Her last duty station was the Naval Air Station located in Fallon, Nevada, where she retired from in January 1999.
While stationed at Moffet Field, California she married Bruce Wood where she was blessed with her one and only child, Kaylee Ann Wood, in Oakland, CA 1992. Prior to her transfer to Fallon, Nevada, Lisa, and Bruce were divorced. After retiring from the US Navy, Lisa returned to Utah with Kaylee. She then worked for the Transportation Security Administration as Security Check Point Officer from 2002 until 2012. Her next adventure was working as a part-time school lunch lady for Davis Country School District from 2012 until her retirement in the Fall of 2024. She resided in Clinton, Utah until her death. She was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, and Elim Lutheran Church.
Her favorite pastimes included collecting books to read, with a focus on Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Action/Adventure. She was a self-taught theologian and enjoyed learning about the various aspects of Christianity ranging from Catholicism to the foundations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was active in Girls Scouts through her childhood and later served as a troop leader.
Lisa could be found every Thursday night with her Supper Club Ladies taking turns and picking a new establishment to have dinner each week. If she wasn’t spending her quiet time at home curled up with a book, she would be heading to Fort Hall Casino with the Supper Club Ladies for a weekend of fun and adventure.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and beloved pets, River, Jerry, and Ben. She is survived by her daughter, Kaylee, and sister, Wendy (Lamont) Nelson, and brother, Leslie Hal Moore Jr. (Melanie), niece, Shelby Moore, and the Supper Club Ladies, Katie, Vickie, Patti, Andrea, Lavita, and Tamara.
A Celebration of Life for Lisa will be held on Thursday, January 16 at 5:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Roy, Utah.
In lieu of flowers please read a good book, spend time with friends and family, or donate to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society https://support.nmcrs.org/a/homepage.
