Kim Ruth Garside Gurney

Kim Ruth Garside Gurney, our beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, in her home on Tuesday evening January 24th, 2023. She was 77 years old.

Kim was born on July 26th, 1945 to Heber Garside and Elaine Monson Garside. She has four sisters, Marsha, Jan, Teren, and Nona. She has one brother, Blake.

After graduating from Cyprus High she attended classes at BYU for a year before serving an LDS mission to England. She met her husband Don there while he was also serving a mission. They were married on February 7th, 1969. She served in many different callings throughout her life but especially loved serving in the Relief Society.

Kim had a very special relationship with her siblings. She was the oldest and took care of them while her parents worked, and has many cherished stories of her younger years with them. Kim loved spending time with her family and friends. Holidays were her favorite and she always got everyone together to celebrate.

Kim is preceded in death by her eternal sweetheart Don, her parents Heber and Elaine, and her sister Jan. She is survived by her three children. Kersten (Scott) Robbins, Jennifer (Ron) Calufetti, and Jonathan Drew (Nicole) Gurney. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 1st from 6-8 pm at 2742 W. 14400 South Bluffdale Utah Stake Center. Funeral services will be on February 2nd at 11:00 am with a viewing from 10:00-10:45 am prior at the same location. Interment at the Bluffdale City Cemetery.
