1964 Kerry 2024

Kerry Alan Bray

September 14, 1964 — August 12, 2024

West Jordan

Our beloved Kerry Alan Bray (59) was born in Salt Lake City on Sept 14, 1964 to Alan Dale and Linda Thayne Bray. He was the second of eight children.

He chose to leave this life on August 12, 2024 in West Jordan, Utah, after an intense battle with depression. We will carry on together with a hole in our hearts and lives, with the knowledge that he will be made well.

He grew up in Hunter, playing in the orchard and fields around his home and later riding his dirt bike with his friends, Chad, Craig, Bobby, and David. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and grew up in the Hunter 9th ward. He graduated from Cyprus High School. He met Margaret Hatch while working at Sizzler and they were married in 1983 (later divorced). They soon welcomed Nichole and Tyler along with her three children, Heather, Lee, and Michelle, from a previous marriage, that he loved as his own. He later Married Martha Vasquez on November 11, 2017 and added her kids, Jared and Naomi, to his life, one of which became one of his best friends.

Kerry was a master mechanic and always found the smartest and fastest way to get the job done. He has helped countless family, friends, and strangers with car repair over the years and never charged them for his labor. He was a perfectionist in building and remodeling homes and his work was always immaculate. He had an artistic eye and had the best yard and garden. You never caught him not in the “middle" of multiple projects. He did not sit still. He was always so generous to those who needed help. Kerry was brave, daring, and quick to react in any situation, even saving one of his sons life while vacationing at Lake Powell.

In his free time he was found hunting, fishing, and catching any kind of bug. His favorite people were kids and they were drawn to him. At any gathering he didn’t stay around the adults very long before drifting to wherever kids were. When Kerry walked in the door there was always an electricity, two parts fear, eight parts excitement. We never knew what kind of shenanigans he’d get up to. Kerry was the worlds biggest tease and would roughhouse with the boys but brought imagination and adventure especially with the girls. His grandkids always called him their favorite grandpa because he was always so fun. Each felt they were playing with their best friend, and they were. He always took out time for his brother Adam and teased him relentlessly but also cared for him so deeply. Kerrys final and honest words from his heart were an expression of his love for his Children.

Kerry is survived by his wife Martha, children Nichole (Christian) Hind, Tyler (Courtney) Bray, Heather (Hutch) Peisley, Lee Wade, Jared (Estefany) Lobato, and Naomi (Trevon) Hymer, Parents, Alan and Linda Bray, Siblings Susan (Matt) Catmull, Kristi Licea, Adam Bray, Amy (Harold) Fish, Nellie Lingwall (Shahaf), April (Dave) Hendrickson, Sarah (Sean) Lingwall, 24 beautiful grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a million nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to a celebration of his life on Saturday August 31st from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the church pavilion at 3450 S. 6400 W., WVC, Utah (inclement weather, inside the church)

Following this, His family will travel to Tintic where he hunted as a boy with his Dad to leave him where he was the happiest.
