John Lyman Lewis passed away on December 28, 2024 in Syracuse, Utah due to Terminal Lung Disease. He was born on December 10, 1945 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Bernice Estelle Thompson and John Albert Lewis.
John joined the Army and was stationed at the Headquarters Sixth United States Army Presidio in San Francisco, California and was honorably discharged on October 1, 1969. He was employed at Lockheed Martin working on military planes, built homes, worked construction and drove school busses for Davis County School District.
John married the love of his life and eternal partner Leslie Anne Borst in 1967. They were later sealed in the Los Angeles temple.
Our dad was the hardest working man and sacrificed everything for his family. At times he worked three jobs to support his family with his intent being able to keep my mom at home with us five kids. Mom and Dad were converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when they had two young children. Their beliefs and faith meant the world to them as it blessed them to have a better life from how they were raised. Later in life they were honored to serve missions, one being at the Salt Lake General Conference Center and the other at the Ogden Temple.
The activities Dad enjoyed the most throughout life were taking his family to the Oregon Coast, Square Dancing with his wife, taking Sunday walks to the Cottage Grove swinging bridge and feeding the ducks at the river. His favorite pastime was sitting next to his wife and getting his head and back scratched for hours on end. Most people knew him for having a big heart and always ready and willing to help anyone in need.
John is survived by his wife Leslie Lewis, five children Shery Johnson, Shelly (Steele) Hadlock, Jeniffer (Justin) Thorpe, Jacob (Daisey) Lewis and Stacy (Damien) Burton. 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents and 3 sisters.
