Jimmie Haws passed away at the age of 75 at Sandstone Millcreek Nursing Home.
Jimmie was born on April 9, 1948, to Jim and Allene Haws in Richfield, Utah. He was the eldest of four children.
Jimmie attended school in Murray, Utah until his family moved to Boulder, Utah where he attended and graduated from Escalante High School. After graduating he attended Utah State University for one year then transferred to Southern Utah State College in Cedar City, Utah where he graduated with a Bachelor degree in Electronics. He worked for a time for The Salt Lake Tribune/Deseret News printing until he was employed by the State of Utah as a computer programmer where he worked for several years prior to his retirement.
While in Salt Lake City he met the love of his life, Cheryl Hawkins, on a blind date. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple and eventually made their home in West Valley City where they lived until their deaths. Cheryl preceded Jimmie in death about two years earlier and he had been looking forward to seeing her again. That anticipated event happened on July 24, 2023.
Jimmie was loved by those who knew him and will be remembered by his friends and family. Even though he and Cheryl were not blessed with children of their own, they became special aunt and uncle to their nieces and nephews and proxy grandparents to the Mikel Bohannan family.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Allene Haws and his beloved wife, Cheryl and is survived by his siblings Kim Dean, Kerlyn Haws, and Jason Haws.
