George Killian Winters son of Evan and Patsy Winters passed away on April 22, 2023 at the age of 53. He fought a brief battle succumbing to cancer with family members providing comfort at his side.
George was born July 18th, 1969 in Provo Utah while the world was eagerly anticipating the Apollo 11 astronauts landing on the moon.
During his first year of life his family resided in a tiny Alaskan village known as Shishmaref, located on a coastal island only 4 miles long, and adjacent to the Arctic Ocean. Thereafter his family resided in Taylorsville Utah for many years. George eventually settled in the Rose Park community working as a crossing guard for many years.
George dependably provided the Rose Park community years of invaluable service; early mornings helping children safely arrive to Newman Elementary School and their return home at the end of the day.
He earned an Associate of Science in Music from Salt Lake Community College.
George was a musician and played many instruments. His main interest became acoustic guitar. He often performed at “open mics” throughout Salt Lake City. His favorite place to perform was the “High Point” on Redwood Road and 7800 South. He published three Albums in his name categorized as singer-songwriter contemporary folk.
Preceded in death by both grandparents, Van and Merle Killian, and E. Francis and Margaret Winters, and his mom Patsy Winters.
Survived by his father Evan B. Winters, stepmother Donna G. Winters, sister Deena, and brothers Ian and Brian, and numerous nieces and nephews.
