GARRY ROYAL DEUEL
1934 - 2018
Our beloved husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend, Garry Royal Deuel, age 83, passed away from complications of Mesothelioma (lung cancer) on May 19, 2018 in Murray, UT surrounded by his family. Born June 30, 1934, in Santaquin, UT, the son of Wendell and Opal Merelda Larson Deuel. Married Sharon Rae White on April 10, 1959 in the Logan LDS Temple.
Garry honorably served in the US Army and National Guard for six years. His fast/slow pitch softball and basketball games provided many happy memories for him and his family. He was a valuable and dedicated employee of Hercules, Inc. for 37 years, and was a skilled carpenter and woodworker who shared his creative talents with friends and family.
Garry was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving as Elders Quorum Counselor, Explorer Scout Leader, Ward Executive Secretary, Assistant Financial Ward Clerk, Young Marrieds Leader, and Food Storage Coordinator. He loved to travel worldwide, and supported his entire family in all their activities. Yuma, Arizona was home during the winter months for the last 21 years, where he enjoyed line dancing, shuffleboard, competitive running, and games by the hour. He enjoyed the love and respect of all who knew and worked with him.
Survived by his loving wife, Sharon, and five cherished children: Debbie Garrett, West Jordan; Annette (Troy) Meier, Vernal; David (Bobbi) Deuel, Vernal; Scott Deuel, Sandy; Amy (Guy) Mackay, West Jordan; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; siblings: Merna Johnson, Twin Falls, ID; Gay (Gordon) Young, Yuma, AZ; Wenda Scott, Sandy, UT. Preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law Barbara (Bud) Desmond; brother-in-law Mayben Johnson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 26, 11 a.m., at Mount Jordan 6th Ward, 9331 South 300 East, Sandy. Viewing for friends and family will be Friday, 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment: Santaquin Cemetery
