Effie Lois Bruton

July 30, 1937 — September 13, 2024

Effie Lois Huddleston Bruton passed peacefully at her son’s home in Eagle Mountain Utah on Friday, September 13, 2024. She was born on July 30, 1937, in Missouri to Reverend Jacob Theodore Huddleston and Effie Dover. She had one brother, Delbert Huddleston, and three sisters, Ruth Delplane, Pauline Twitty, and Fern Piland. All preceded her in death as did her eldest daughter, Kitty Ruth Ruth and her beloved husband, Charles Ray Bruton.

Lois (her preferred name), after graduation from Sapulpa High School, worked as a telephone operator. After she married Charles, her “honey”, on September 24, 1956, she became a housewife and enjoyed cake decorating, making donuts, sewing, crocheting, ceramics, studying genealogy, making greeting cards, playing the piano, and singing in church.

She has the distinction of visiting all lower 48 states as she often traveled with Charles who drove a semitruck. Afraid of flying, she did not make it to Hawaii or Alaska.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Deborah Lynn Bouziden, Deborah’s children, Yolanda Lorene and Charles Nathaniel Jordan (Nathan) and his children Charles Nathaniel Jordan II (Jordan) and Jace Christian.

Her son, Jesse David Bruton (married to Angie Eades), their children, Timothy David, and Marlana Dawn, and her two children, Noah Frances Smalling, and William David Smalling.

Lois’ oldest daughter, Kitty’s children, granddaughter Shannon Nicole Stone (married to Robert Stone), their children, Andrew, Mackenzie, Jaxon, and Gavin; grandson, Timothy Lee Ruth (married to Amanda Casteel); grandson, Kenneth Dwayne Ruth (married to Davi) and their children, Jesse, Dahlia, Beau, and Eleanor Ruth.

In association with Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, in Coldwater Kansas, there will be a graveside memorial service held on Charles and Lois’ anniversary on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery, 1800 East Main, Coldwater, Kansas where we will bring them together once again at their final resting place.
