David Wilford Monson

On Friday, September 30, 2022, less than 25 hours from his 81^st birthday, David Wilford Monson passed away at his home with loved ones by his side.  He died 6 weeks after his diagnosis of cancer.

He was born October 2, 1941, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Andrew N. Monson and Angelina Tracy.  He graduated from Ricks College and Utah State University with a degree in Industrial Arts Education. 

On March 18, 1966, he married his sweetheart, LuAnn Bagley in the Logan LDS temple.

He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving a 2 ½ year mission to Lima, Peru, as well as serving throughout his life in various callings in the Clearfield 1^st Ward including Bishop, Elder’s Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader and Membership Clerk.

Dave was raised in Ucon, Idaho, lived for a short time in Logan, Utah, and spent the past 56 years living in Clearfield.  He worked as an Industrial Arts teacher at North Davis Jr. High, was owner of Monson Welding and Machine and worked for over 20 years at Clearfield Job Corps as a Machinist Instructor.

 He is survived by his wife of 56 ½ years and their children, Angela Furlong (Darryl), Michelle Slade (Clay), Michael David (Jamie), adopted son Mike Boone (DeLys), 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 brother and 2 sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 sisters.

Dave loved temple work, gardening and raising chickens.  He lived a faithful and exemplary life of love and service.  The Savior, his family and freedom meant everything to him.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and love him.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 7, 2022, at 11 am at the Clearfield Stake Center, 935 S. State St. with a viewing from 9:45 am to 10:45 am.  There will also be a viewing on Thursday, October 6, 6 pm to 8 pm at the church.  Interment in the Richmond City Cemetery.
