Charles Hal Hancock passed away peacefully at home on November 18, surrounded by his loving family. Hal was born April 4, 1928 in Richfield, Utah to Marie Church and Slade Cyrus Hancock. He was the youngest of 4 children. When Hal was just 10 months old, his father lost his life in a blizzard on West Mountain near Richfield, leaving Marie to raise her young family alone. Hal looked forward to the day when he would meet his father and enjoy the company of his beloved mother.
Hal enjoyed a happy childhood. He attended school in Panguitch, and graduated with a class of 27 from Panguitch High School in 1945. He enrolled at Dixie Junior College the following year and received his Associate Degree in Science. In 1949 Hal moved to Provo, Utah to attend Brigham Young University. It was there that he met Cornella Larrabee, and after several requests to marry him, she finally consented and they were married February 24, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. Hal graduated from the Y in 1953 with his Bachelor of Arts, Music Education. He taught music at Milford, Inkom and Juab High Schools. Then took a position with Retail Credit Company (Equifax) where he worked for the next 40 + years.
Hal and Cornella are the proud parents of 9 children, Susan (Bruce) Bale, Art (Karla), Colette (Ron) Waters, Aaron (Teresa), Ann (David) Stephenson, Lisa (Cory) Bagley, John (Pam), Doug (Rhonda) and Jody (Jared) Burningham. Their posterity currently numbers over 120.
Hal was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served for many years as Ward Clerk, High Priest Group Leader and Ward Music Director. He served faithfully with Cornella for 20 years as ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple.
Hal was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Clem and two sisters, Alta and Artoise, a daughter Ann and a grandson, Brandon.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Taylorsville 8th Ward, 1495 West Tamarack Road, Taylorsville Utah. A viewing will be held for friends and family Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and at 11:00 am on Saturday prior to services at the same ward building. Interment-Wasatch Lawns, South Valley Location.
