Brent Christensen was born in Salt Lake City on July 15, 1950 to Dean K “Doc” and Helen (Stallings) Christensen. He spent a majority of his life in Salt Lake City. Brent met his wife, Jo-Ann, in the fifth grade when she attempted to show him how to use a stopwatch. He didn’t want to be showed up by a girl, so he waved her off and proceeded to make up times for the event. They reunited later and were married in the Salt Lake Temple on March 16, 1972.
Brent graduated Magna Cum Laude in Biology at the University of Utah in 1972, having already been accepted to Northwestern Medical School in Chicago. After completing medical school, he finished his medical internship and residency in Salt Lake City and began his career in Pediatrics. He has been an avid student and mentor his entire life. He was also beloved by all of his patients and their parents, often going above and beyond to help the individual child to heal.
Brent and Jo-Ann have four children. Wendy Redford with children Anika, Brendon, Callae & Darrian; David with children Kasey, Abbi & Bella; Tiffini (Andy) Glaze with children Joshua, Helen, Dallas, Josef, Sarah & Lydia; and Richard (Maria) with children Conner, Alex, Aiden, Hunter, Will, Mayson & Beckham. Brent loved and cherished his family deeply.
Brent loved people and he loved to serve. He served in various capacities in his ward in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, ranging from Bishop and Elder’s Quorum President to Scout Leader. It gave him a chance to really get to know people and help them in any way that he could.
Brent struggled his entire life with many health challenges, but that did not stop him from enjoying snowmobiling, water skiing, and family fun. Time with family was special to him and he loved his grandchildren dearly. Brent especially enjoyed tinkering with any- and everything (carpentry, tiling, plumbing, electrical…). If he didn’t know how to do something, he’d find a book, read up on it, and then do it. He passed that legacy on to his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him, but he is finally free of pain and suffering.
An open house celebration will be held in his honor on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 11 am in the church building at 5235 S Wesley Rd (1107 East) in Murray. A short program will follow at 11:30 am with an open mic for anyone wanting to share memories of Brent. Lunch will be provided afterward for family and close friends.
